youngCaritas.at gives young people the opportunity to get actively involved in the work of Caritas, enabling them to gather field experience in social work.

youngCaritas.at acts as a hub between Caritas and young people who take an interest in subjects such as homelessness, elderly people, migrants in Vienna and the specific daily work of Caritas institutions. youngCaritas.at seeks to encourage people to act socially responsibly, calling attention to everyday emergency situations in order to increase awareness of people on the margins of society. youngCaritas.at regularly offers activities exclusively designed for people aged 15 to 24, which also correspond to their life situations: they are temporary, interesting and aim at providing well-targeted support.


youngCaritas.at T-Shirts
Limited edition designed by Dan Perjovschi 

On the occasion of the international film festival Viennale held in Vienna in October 2006, youngCaritas.at and Erste Bank together released a limited edition of the popular youngCaritas.at T-shirts. The shirts were designed by the artist Dan Perjovschi, who is considered one of the most politically active representatives of the Romanian contemporary art scene and is famous for his minimalist style, which resembles graffiti or cartoons.
With said T-shirts, visitors to Austria’s largest international film festival can set an example of social commitment and spread the idea of youngCaritas.at. As Erste Bank pays the production expenses of a total of 600 T-shirts, the purchase price of 15 euros goes entirely to projects supporting young people in distress.
“We support the work of youngCaritas.at, because it is a profoundly modern form of social commitment,” says Boris Mate, Head of Corporate Sponsoring of Erste Bank. “We would like to encourage young people to get involved in social responsibility and to increase their awareness of the breaks and problems which are also found in our affluent society. “
