Jazz First
Within the scope of “Jazzfirst”, Erste Bank supports a young jazz artist each year. This project includes, among other things, the production of a CD.
Two years ago, in spring 2002, the idea was born to start a concept that has been successfully applied in the field of New Music also in Erste Bank’s engagement for Jazz music: the idea was to support financially one young project per year in order to accompany an artist with a CD-project for one year and thus help with the next step on his career.
Jazz First: what seems like a coquettish play with words at first sight, was from the beginning a highly efficient conception bringing together artistic creativity, support by a young team of producers for the realization of the CD and the journalistic presence in a truly competent media.
Under the title Jazz First the implementation of the cooperation between Erste Bank, jazzzeit and Quinton was started in 2003 with the young Austrian saxophone player Gerald Preinfalk and his project TAN GO GO.
The second Jazz First artist is the pianist and singer/ songwriter Sabina Hank from Salzburg and her project MUSIC IN A MIRROR in spring 2004.
She was offered not only the support of her project but the engagement of the world known musician Bob Minzter. The tour in fall 2004 together with bob Minzter on tenor saxophone and bass clarinet could only made possible by the keenness of Erste Bank.
We’ve thus come full circle in synergetic acting of the various groups of interest: sensitive and clever selection of the projects to be supported, innovative implementation and professional presentation on the most important stages and in the most important media in Austria and Central Europe as well as important measures in consolidating Erste Bank’ s competence in this area, especially as an enterprise with a perspective also for economic success.
