You open it and you see people you have never seen before. Holiday snaps, well-known gestures and poses, faces of strange people who are smiling at you as if you were related to them or close friends and you should look at these pictures . . . doesn’t it feel strange, even quite uncanny, to immerse yourself in the life of a stranger completely by coincidence? With these congealed life fragments, Salamon questions the boundaries and intersections of reality and fiction. Against the background of their biographical studies, she creates space for personal stories of growing up and becoming older, without hiding the socio-political realities. Salamon repeatedly makes it clear that supposed authenticity is staged, that what is shown here is theatre and not life itself.
